UPSTET (UP Super TET) — Assistant Teacher Recruitment
UPSTET, popularly known as Super TET, is the recruitment examination for Assistant Teacher (and, in some cycles, Headmaster) posts in Uttar Pradesh’s government primary and upper-primary schools. Unlike UPTET or CTET, which only certify eligibility, Super TET is the exam that actually decides who gets appointed.
Notification
Super TET is not held on a fixed annual calendar — it is conducted whenever the Uttar Pradesh government announces a fresh batch of Assistant Teacher vacancies, historically once every one to a few years. Recent developments — including a revised syllabus release and directions from the Allahabad High Court to move the recruitment process forward — suggest a new UPSTET cycle is being prepared, though the formal notification with vacancy numbers, application dates, and fees is still awaited at the time of writing. Eligibility (indicative, based on past cycles)
Academic qualification
- Primary level (Classes 1–5): Senior secondary (12th) + 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed / BTC), or graduation with B.Ed as per current NCTE norms.
- Upper primary level (Classes 6–8): Graduation + B.Ed, or equivalent as specified in the notification.
Mandatory prerequisite
A valid, currently-accepted UPTET or CTET qualifying certificate for the relevant paper/level. Without this, you cannot apply for UPSTET.
Domicile
UP Assistant Teacher posts have typically required Uttar Pradesh domicile — confirm the exact requirement in each notification.
Age limit
Past Super TET cycles have generally used an age band of roughly 21 to 40 years for general category candidates, as on the cut-off date fixed in that year’s notification, with standard age relaxation for OBC, SC, ST, PwD, and women candidates as per Uttar Pradesh government rules. Always check the exact limits and relaxations in the current notification, as they can change each cycle.
Qualifying marks / cut-off
Super TET does not publish a fixed pass percentage in advance the way UPTET or CTET does. Instead, a category-wise minimum qualifying mark (cut-off) is announced along with the result for that cycle, and only candidates who clear it are ranked on the merit list and called for the next steps such as document verification.
Answer key
After the exam, a provisional answer key is usually published with a short window for candidates to raise objections against specific questions. The final answer key and result follow once objections are reviewed.
Exam pattern
Super TET has historically been an objective, multiple-choice paper of 150 questions for 150 marks, with no negative marking in the most recent pattern. Based on past cycles, the broad subject-wise split has looked like this (exact weightage is confirmed only in each notification):

Selection process
- Written examination (objective, offline mode).
