What is UPSTET (UP Super TET)?
UPSTET — widely known as Super TET — is the recruitment examination conducted for Assistant Teacher (and, in some cycles, Headmaster) posts in Uttar Pradesh's government primary and upper-primary schools. It's important not to confuse it with UPTET: UPTET only certifies that you are eligible to apply for a teaching post, while UPSTET is the exam that actually decides who gets appointed.
Not an annual exam
Unlike UPTET, Super TET isn't held on a fixed yearly calendar. It's conducted whenever the state government announces a fresh batch of Assistant Teacher vacancies — historically every one to a few years.
UPTET/CTET is mandatory first

Once you clear UPTET or CTET, the certificate carries lifetime validity — you don't need to re-appear for it before each future UPSTET cycle.
3. Your score can still count
In some past recruitment cycles (such as the 69,000 Assistant Teacher recruitment), a portion of the final merit was weighted using the TET score — so treat it as more than a pass/fail hurdle. Confirm the exact weightage in each notification.
4. CTET is a valid alternative
In most recent cycles, UPBEB has accepted a valid CTET certificate as equivalent to UPTET for UPSTET eligibility — useful if you're from outside UP or already hold a CTET pass.

After every UPTET exam, a provisional answer key is released on the official website, usually within a few days to a couple of weeks. UPSTET (Super TET) is the actual Assistant Teacher recruitment exam. You can only apply for it once you already hold a valid UPTET or CTET certificate — so the two are steps in the same pipeline, not alternatives to each other.

UPTET and CTET don't award letter grades — they're qualifying (pass/fail) exams with a fixed minimum percentage.
